Camera telling me to clean card reader

Question

Hi, I have an Olympus Stylus 1030SW. When I turn on my camera the light flashes like its working- but it won't allow me to do anything. Half of the time it just turns itself off, the other half, it tells me to clean my card. I have dumped all of the pics from my card onto my computer using a friends camera. What are my choices of things to do here?
