  2. In addition to what fotoace said, it could be the red eye reduction.  So your solution is obvious...

    1.  Look in your camera's manual how to turn off red eye reduction.

    2.  Look in your camera's manual how to turn off the autofocus light.

    3.  Look in you camera's manual how to tun off the flash.


  3. It is either the auto-focus assist light or the actual electronic flash going off
