Cameron White laments on Team Australia’s defeat in 1st T20I against Sri Lanka – Cricket News Update
Cameron White, the Team Australia’s T20I skipper,  who is highly dejected by his team’s defeat in the opening 20-over match against Sri Lanka, has admitted sorrowfully that his players have not come up to the expectations and failed badly in both bowling
and batting departments.
However, the captain has defended his decision to keep spinners away and bank on the pacers completely.
In the 1st of the two T20I games at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, yesterday August 6, the Aussies lost by 35 runs after a rip-roaring competition, which was a source of great entertainment for the viewers.
It was the opening match of the bilateral series of 2 T20Is, 5 ODIs and 3 Tests. Winning the toss, the Kangaroos elected to field first.
Team Sri Lanka played very well at their home ground and posted a mammoth target of 199 runs for the loss of just three wickets in the given 20 overs. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KC-Sangakkara-c1779 and Jeevan Mendis contributed
30 and 29 respectively in the big total.
In reply, the Australian batsmen could not face the bowling attack of the Lankans confidently and wickets kept falling with regular intervals. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DA-Warner-c1301 was the only batsman who fought well and scored 53.
Thus, the tourists fell short of 35 runs with two wickets in hand, at the end of the 20 overs.
White is mournful of this defeat that is a bad omen for the Aussies who have come to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 to regain their lost pride and position in International cricket.
Talking to the media, White said, “Clearly didn't play as we would have hoped. But look, there were some disappointing aspects of the game from our end as well.”
Answering to a question about preventing his spinners from bowling, he told, “There's no reason. It's just my gut feel at the time. Shane Watson's first two overs only went for 12, John Hastings' first over only went for five. We were well in the game for
the first 13 overs ... high 80s or 90s with two wickets down and get a wicket there and the game changes.”
