Speaking to the media reporters after his side’s five-wicket loss to Mumbai Indians, the all-rounder said that the wicket had a little bit of grass and moisture in it which made it a bowler friendly track, as the batsmen struggled to play strokes.
"It had a little bit of grass and a little bit of moisture. Wicket is changing here from time to time said Harbhajan...What I understand is that there is a different wicket every time (here). Probably not an ideal Twenty20 wicket, but both teams had to play
on it," said Cameron White, who led the side after Sangakkara decided to drop himself from playing XI to let the best team play in Mumbai conditions.
Commenting on Sanga’s decision to leave himself out of the squad and handing over leadership to him, White said that it was not usual for a captain to keep himself out of the eleven, adding that it was selfless of the Sri Lankan.
“It was a very selfless thing for Kumar to do, to pick that team," said the Australian all-rounder at the pot-match press conference on Sunday night. "No doubt Kumar is a class player, but that's what Darren and Kumar decided tonight. It was unusual to change
the captain,” he added further.
Asked about his team’s capitulating performance against Mumbai Indians, White said, “Unfortunately we were not good enough tonight. And Mumbai were too good tonight."
