Camille Lacourt of France earned gold medal of the Men’s 100m backstroke on the second day of the 2013 Sette Colli Trophy Meet in Rome, Italy on Friday, June 14.
The French swimmer, who exceeded expectations of his supporters in the double lap backstroke discipline, went full throttle in the 100m discipline to rake the title comprehensively. With his immaculate efforts, he remained in a
marginal lead over his challengers over the finishing end.
He stayed marginally away from his strongest opponent in the first round but with his commendable form, he managed to earn lead in the second round and secured the title. He remained half a body length ahead of his following swimmer
throughout the race and secured the title with an effort of 54.08 seconds.
The champion was chased by Bastiaan Lijesen of Netherlands, who remained 0.56 seconds behind and stepped on the finishing end for bronze medal with an effort of 54.64 seconds.
The second finisher was chased by Mirco di Tora, who was only 0.15 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and emerged on the finishing end for bronze medal by posting a time of 54.79 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Stefano M. Pizzamiglio of Italy, who was only 0.26 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 55.05 seconds.
Subsequently, Pizzamiglio was chased by Matteo Milli of Italy, who stayed only 0.14 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and tapped the wall with the timing of 55.19 seconds.
Sixth position of the race was obtained by Fabio Laugeni of Italy, who was 0.31 seconds apart and tapped the wall with the timing of 55.50 seconds.
On the other hand, Laugeni was trailed by Peter Bernek of Hungary, who was only 0.28 seconds away from improving his position as he ended his race in seventh place by producing a time of 55.78 seconds.
Last spot of the event was obtained by Christopher Ciccarese, who was unable to make a significant improvement in his qualification time as he concluded his swim in last place. He stayed nearly half a body length slower from his
former finisher and posted an effort of 56.24 seconds.
In addition, Lacourt expressed happiness over his happiness in the 100m discipline while the position holders received awards and accolades at the prize ceremony of the tournament after the session.
