Camille Lacourt secures Men’s 50m backstroke gold – 2012 Indian Ocean Meet
Camille Lacourt of France secured gold medal of the Men’s 50m backstroke on opening day of the 2012 Indian Ocean Meet in St. Paul, Reunion, on Friday, December 28.
The French swimmer stifled hopes of his opponents in the shortest backstroke discipline and paved his way towards the finishing blockade for gold medal.
With his impeccable pace, Lacourt faced no trouble from his challengers in the start and dominated his way towards the wall for the title.
His commendable pace placed him in a two body length lead over his following swimmer as he tapped the wall for the crown with a wonderful timing of 24.20 seconds.
His gruelling effort remained 1.95 seconds faster from Florent Hassambay of France, who stepped on the finishing wall for silver medal by clocking a nice time of 26.15 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Thomas Avetand of France, who was nearly half a second behind and transpired on the finishing wall for bronze medal by clocking a time of 26.66 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by French swimmer, Alann Bobe, who stayed 0.02 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and clocked an effort of 26.68 seconds.
Bobe was chased by Pierre-Yves Desprez of France, who remained more than half a body length behind and transpired on the finishing blockade for fifth place by clocking an effort of 27.23 seconds.
Sixth position of the event was secured by Arnaud Incana of France, who was 1.55 seconds behind and made his way towards the wall with the timing of 28.78 seconds.
Incana was followed by Guilhem Gonier of France, who remained 0.50 seconds away from upsetting his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall for seventh position with the timing of 29.28 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Alexandre Telmar of France, who was full body length behind and clocked an effort of 30.15 seconds.
In addition, Lacourt was extremely delighted with his title claiming effort in the race and articulated that he would try hard to please his supporters by accomplishing the same at forthcoming swimming competitions.
