Camille Muffat dominates Women’s 800m freestyle heats: Day one – 2012 Paris Open

Camille Muffat of France dominated the qualification rounds of Women’s 800m freestyle on opening day of the 2012 Paris Open Swimming Championships on Friday, July 6.
Muffat faced tough competition from her challengers in the first half of the race but with her utter willpower, she strengthened her place for top finish in the second half.
The French swimmer remained comfortably ahead of her opponents on the finishing end and qualified into the playoff as top contender for gold medal.
With her stupendous efforts, Muffat enjoyed a remarkable lead over her rivals and ended her sixteen-lap race by touching the wall with the timing of 8 minutes and 23.60 seconds.
Her fastest qualification effort remained 5.06 seconds ahead of her compatriot, Coralie Balmy, who made her way to the finishing blockade as second best swimmer with an effort of 8 minutes and 28.66 seconds.
Similarly, third fastest qualification spot of the race was secured by Camelia Potec of Romania, who was also 5.07 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and transpired on the finishing end with an effort of 8 minutes and 33.73 seconds.
Fourth qualifying position of the discipline was secured by Erika Villaecija Garcia of Spain, who stayed nearly four seconds slower from overpowering her former finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 8 minutes and 37.52 seconds.
Subsequently, Garcia enjoyed an advantage of four body lengths over her following competitor, Julia Hassler of Switzerland, who earned fifth position with an effort of 8 minutes and 41.65 seconds.
Hassler was chased by Katie Goldman of Australia, who finished her race in sixth best spot by clocking a timing of 8 minutes and 42.75 seconds.
The Australian swimmer was trailed by Sarah Kohler of Germany, who earned seventh fastest spot of the race by posting a time of 8 minutes and 49.53 seconds.
Kohler was traced by Margaux Verger Gourson of France, who stayed only 0.09 seconds apart and entered the playoff as eighth fastest swimmer with the timing of 8 minutes and 49.62 seconds.
Furthermore, Muffat expressed her desire of continuing her dominance in the final round.
