Camille Muffat secures Women’s 200m freestyle title: 2012 French Short Course Nationals
Camille Muffat of Olympic Nice Natation secured gold medal of the Women’s 200m freestyle on fourth day of the 2012 French Short Course Nationals on Sunday, November 18.
Muffat spoiled the party of her opponents in the eight-lap discipline and proved her eligibility for the title.
With her commendable form in the 200m race, Muffat enjoyed a comfortable lead over her opponents and surfaced on the finishing end for gold medal with an effort of 1 minute and 51.65 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Charlotte Bonnet of Olympic Nice Natation, who stayed almost four seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 55.13 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Lotte Friis of Denmark, who was exactly two seconds behind and ended her swim in third place by producing an effort of 1 minute and 57.13 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Mylene Lazare of AAS Sarcelles Natation 95, who stayed 0.32 seconds slower and settled on the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 57.35 seconds.
Lazare was traced by Camille Gheorghiu of Aquatic Club Bourges, who stayed 2.05 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and reached the finishing blockade for fifth place by clocking an effort of 1 minute and 59.40 seconds.
Sixth finest spot of the event was obtained by Ophelie-Cyrielle Etienne of Lille Metropole Natation, who was 1.31 seconds slower and posted a time of 2 minutes and 00.71 seconds.
Etienne was chased by Lauriane Haag of Dauphins Toulouse OEC, who was 0.86 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and concluded her race in seventh place by touching the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 01.57 seconds.
Eighth spot of the event was obtained by Marion Abert of Montpellier ANUC, who was 0.40 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 01.97 seconds.
In addition, Muffat expressed happiness over her victory in the race and said that she would continue her hard work to accomplish the same in future competitions.
