Camille Muffat seizes Women’s 200m freestyle gold – European SC Swimming Championships
Camille Muffat of France seized gold medal of the Women’s 200m freestyle on fourth day of the 2012 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Chartres, France on Sunday, November 25.
The French swimmer devastated hopes of her rivals in the eight-lap discipline as she proved her mettle for top spot on the podium.
With her commendable pace, Muffat remained considerably ahead of her subsequent rival as she reached the finishing blockade for gold medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 52.20 seconds.
The champion was followed by Charlotte Bonnet of France, who stayed 1.80 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing wall for silver medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 54.00 seconds.
Third fastest spot of the race was obtained by Veronika Popova of Russia, who stayed 0.20 seconds slower from improving her position and ended her race by touching the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 54.20 seconds.
The Russian swimmer was followed by Patricia Castro Ortega of Spain, who suffered a loss of 1.76 seconds from her foregoing finisher and concluded her race in fourth place by producing a time of 1 minute and 55.96 seconds.
Fifth position of the event was obtained by Lotte Friis of Denmark, who stayed 0.87 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and surfaced on the finishing end by touching the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 56.83 seconds.
Friis was followed by Ksenia Yuskova of Russia, who stayed almost 0.80 seconds slower and completed her race in a time of 1 minute and 57.67 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh spot of the race was followed by Diletta Carli of Italy, who was exactly one second slower from her former finisher and ended her race in a time of 1 minute and 58.67 seconds.
Carli was traced by Katinka Hosszu of Hungary, who stayed considerably slower form her foregoing finisher and gained eighth position of the race by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 08.01 seconds.
In addition, Muffat was delighted with her top finish in the race and raked medal after the event.
