Cammile Adams clinches Women’s 200m butterfly gold – Swimming news
Cammile Adams of Aggie Swim Club clinched gold medal in the Women’s 200m butterfly on opening day of the 2013 Phillips 66 National Championships & World Champ. Trials in Indianapolis on Tuesday, June 25.
The 21-year-old Adams devastated hopes of her opponents in the distant butterfly discipline as she cruised her way towards the finishing end and occupied gold medal of the 200m discipline.
With her epic pace, she remained in a prominent lead over her following swimmer and tapped the finishing end for first position by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 08.10 seconds.
Maya Dirado of Stanford Swimming, who was 1.02 seconds slower and emerged on the finishing end for silver medal by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 09.12 seconds, chased the champion.
Kat McLaughlin of Mission Viejo Nadadores, who was one and a half body lengths behind and surfaced on the finishing end for bronze medal by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 10.41 seconds, chased the second best finisher.
Fourth fastest spot of the discipline was obtained by Becca Mann of Clearwater Aquatics, who remained 0.05 seconds away from improving her position as she finished fourth in the race by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 10.46 seconds.
Caitlin Leverenz of California Aquatics, who was 0.70 seconds apart and emerged on the finishing end by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 11.16 seconds, secured fifth position of the discipline.
Jasmine Tosky of Palo Alto Stanford, who was 0.13 seconds slower and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 11.29 seconds, obtained sixth finest spot of the race.
Subsequently, Tosky was traced by Megan Kingsley of Mount Pleasant, who was only 0.16 seconds apart and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 11.45 seconds for seventh place.
Courtney Weaver of Flint ‘Y’ Falcon, who was one and a half body length slower and posted a time of 2 minutes and 12.79 seconds, obtained eighth position of the race.
In addition, the position holders received medals and accolades for their commendable efforts after the race.
