Question:

Camp Help!?

I"m going to a camp next week, and I'm nervous. I tend to get sick to my stomach on my first day away from home. Also, I've never been there before. I'm going with my best friend. What advice do you have to help the nerves and where can I look up info on the camp besides the camp website? Like general places?

  1. I can't help you much with the nerves, except to say do whatever helps you.  If that means nibbling on crackers or a granola bar, do that.  Or keep a bottle of water nearby, if that helps.

As to camp - don't worry about it too much.  You'll be off for a week of vacation with your best friend?  What's not to like?  DON'T pack everything in the world - you'll never use it all.  Just take the basics, probably what's on the list that the camp provides.  I was a boy scout leader for years, and I saw kids bring so much stuff with them that never got used.  If you get some free time, use it to talk with the other people in your bunkhouse or tent or whatever, or explore the camp with your friend.  You'll have a great time!
