  1. YOu don't mention if you and the kids have command sponsership.  Without that, the military will not pay for your move, you will be ineligable to live on base, the kids will not be eligable to attend the DoDDS schools on base and your spouse may not even be permitted to live off base.  Add in that your BAH will still be based on where you live stateside, you won't get dependent rate COLA and you won't have SOFA status and all together it is an exspensive risk to take.  Especially with kids.

If you do have command sponsership, contact the family advocacy office on the base and ask them to connect you with some spouses who are living there already,  I would also contact the schools to find out what you will need to enroll the kids and, if possible, to get some email contacts for the kids so they have someone there they know a bit.

Last thing, you don;t mention if the kids are from your marriage or a previous relationship.  If they are from a previous relationship and thier father has visitation and/or you recieve child support, you will have to notify the courts before leaving the country.  Additionally, the father will have to agree to the move, the visitation order adjusted, meaning the kids will most likely be in the states for Christmas and the summer.  The order should include who is responsible for the transportation costs (generally, you and your husband as you asked for the move).  It is imperitive that you take care of this through the courts and have legal documents to support the move if the kids are from a previous relationship.  If you are on orders, the military will require it and even if they don't, if you take the kids out of the country without legal orders giving permission, it can be a mess later on if he refuses to return them or if he decides to claim you never spoke with him about it and files charges.

  2. if you are not going over Command Sponsored, you will NOT be permitted to live in base housing at all.
