  1. I would only spend $500.00 if you're planning to compete professionally when you become an adult. If you're already an adult, then go for it.

  2. I have not been to it but I have known John Sharkey and Mike Chaterabut for a long time and I can tell you that John Sharkey has produced some quality students.  Some of what I learned in order to be competitive in sport karate I learned from people such as them in a seminar or just impromptu because they were willing to share it with me at a national tournament.  If you do go, take notes even if it does not apply to you or fit your own needs.  Perhaps some of those things will help your classmates back home.  Secondly many people forget about half of what they learned so I would ask if you can tape the audio at least so that it will help you to remember what you learned there and have it to help guide yourself when you do get home.  I can't say specifically if this one is worth that but the above are things that have helped me to get more value for the time and money that I have invested in such things.
