I am taking a three-day volleyball camp this summer, and I am sure it will require running (which I am TERRIBLE at). I need some ideas or exercises that will improve my stamina and help me run faster so I won't be the laughing stock. Help!?

  1. honestly, the best way..RUN! everyday. with each day or week or few days, increase your distance. it ay sound hard, but the feeling you get afterwars will be worth it.

  2. drink alot of water and run alot it will help your endurance and stamina out.

  3. Since it's volleyball, the camp will probably require more explosive running than long distance or sustained running. I would suggest doing sprints. Start small though. Draw a line in your drive way to start and a finish line. Work on sprinting back and forth from those lines as quick as you can as many times as you can. Then make them fartjer apart and try to keep up the same time. Make sure you stretch really well before you do any of this though because I pulled a quad muscle doing sprints just a few days ago =/. Also, go for long distance runs just in case your camp does require more endurance running. Make your own pace. Run a few times a week so you can learn how fast you can run without getting too tired and so you are able to finish your goal in running. I know plyometrics are supposed to help running also. This is a really good website below  that tells you all about plyometrics and which ones work for faster running or endurance running and your vertical jump if you want to work on that later. Really, just work yourself pretty hard a few weeks before the camp and you should be all ready for whatever they throw at you but be sure to stretch and heat and ice any injuries and don't work yourself an injury. Volleyguy is right though, there really shouldn't be that much running at a 3 day camp anyways, you'll need every bit of time in those days just to cover volleyball skills so I wouldn't worry TOO much. Have fun at your camp =]

  4. I would be very dissapointed in a 3 day volleyball camp that wasyed much time on running.  Three days is barley enought ime to cover the basic skills.  If there is any physical training, it shouldn't be much more than a demonstartion of exercises you should do to improve jumping ability etc.

  5. drink lost of water and run a few laps every day to help you get used to it. and do loks of sit-ups, jumping jacks and push ups to help w/endurance.
