Campbell Hall of Fame Championship 2010; Exhibition Before the Final match

International Tennis Federation has always been very keen and active in creating something which is striking and catchy for the fans. In this connection, ITF is going to organise an exhibition match before the finals of Campbell Hall of Fame Championship 2010. The event will be held on the morning of 11th July, coming Sunday.

This is a great leisure activity for all those who love to watch tennis and those who like to play it on the centre court. This is going to be a fun-filled event with a lot excitement and exhilaration. The one major fact of its importance is that, it will be followed by the final matches of the Hall of Fame Doubles Challenge. It is a chance for the local players of native clubs to compete on the Centre Court and show their skills.

Campbell Hall of Fame Tennis Championship is basically a part of ATP world tour and is considered one of the top seventeen events of North America. Every year new legends are drafted to the International Tennis Hall of Fame for their years’ of service and dedication to game. The exhibition match features all these big players with tremendous achievements. It’s a great tradition and the historic grass courts of Newport Casino have seen plenty of great tennis players since past 30 years. It surely is an opportunity for the tennis fans to enjoy a different kind of show.

Monica Seles of United States and Andres Gimeno of Spain were inducted in the Tennis Hall of Fame in the year 2009. Both the players have many big titles to their names. They really deserved to be in the Hall of Fame.

In addition to these two legends, Donal L. Dell and the late Dr. Robert “Whirlwind” Johnson were also honoured with the Hall of Fame title. This year again, the exhibition will be a presentation of 2010 Hall of Fame Weekend. The Australian tennis legend Rod laver will also show up at Tennis Hall of Fame 2010. Rod Laver was World Number 1 for consecutive seven years from 1964 to 1970. In the forthcoming exhibition ceremony Laver’s 40th anniversary of his second career Grand Slam victory will be celebrated. Laver had become a part of Hall of Fame in 1981 and he is the only tennis player who captured two career Grand Slams in 1962 and 1969.

Seven new inductees of the Tennis Hall of Fame are going to be there at the exhibition. There is nothing more exciting than being a part of this event. Since 1955, the International Hall of Fame has chosen the greatest champions and contributors of tennis to honour them and pay homage to their good work. There is going to be a total of 218 people from nineteen different countries inducted into the Hall of Fame after this year’s ceremony.

The prominent feature of this exhibition is that it is followed by the real show, the final of Campbell Hall of Fame Championship. The championship tournaments are held every year in the month of July at Newport, Rhode Island. It showcases a 32 player singles draw and doubles matches. Induction ceremony is the essential part of this tournament. On the grass court of Newport Casino, this is the last tournament of the season on ATP tour. But this tournament has a strange feature that the top seeded players have never won it. It is held in the week straight after Wimbledon and may be that is the reason for top seeded players to keep away from this tournament.

Last year’s winner of the single matches Rajeev Ram is ranked 78 in the world ranking. In doubles finals Rajeev was accompanied by Australian player Jordan Kerr. Both these players are not ranked very high but they are the champions of Campbell Hall of Fame Championship 2009.
