Campbell enters her 11th season at the helm of Leopards Volleyball Programme – Volleyball News
The Lafayette Leopards are heading into the 2012 season on coming Sunday, while it will mark 11th for the team mentor Terri Dadio Campbell.
Campbell comes from Bethlehem and she started her volleyball career at Freedom High School. Prior to opting for volleyball, she developed her interest in basketball and proved her potential as a good player. However, she joined the Freedom High School girls’
volleyball team as an assistant coach, while she was in her final three years as a student-athlete on College Hill.
She took the reins of Leopards Volleyball Programme in 2002 and, in her second season, she helped the team to secure the first ‘Patriot League’ win since 1997.
Campbell enabled her team to achieve an overall win/loss record of 10-17 in the previous season and now she is leading her team to 2012 regular season with a new ambition to grab more success. Leopards will begin the 2012 season by taking on Rider volleyball
squad on August 26. First home match will create a fine opportunity for Leopards to open the season on a good note. Lafayette has a good record against the Broncs Ride. The two teams crossed their ways last year and Leopards blanked the opponent, 3-0.
Campbell has the distinction to become the first full-time head coach in history of Leopards Volleyball. Some of the Patriot League's finest student-athletes found glory under her command.
In 2010 season, two of Campbell’s most prolific student-athletes received accolades because of her guidance. Kayly Elmer '11 ended her finished her career ranked among the top-5 all-time in kills. Likewise, Katrina Racibarskas '11 ended her career as the
top 10 in sets.
Campbell led the Lafayette squad to 14 wins during the 2009 season, which also included a season sweep of top rival Holy Cross volleyball team. Moreover, Leopards combined 24 victories in 2008 and 2007 under Campbell’s leadership. She also enabled Leopards
to reach the 2006 Patriot League Tournament for the first time in more than ten years.
Currently, Campbell has high hopes to lead her team to success in the 2012 season. She has put a lot of efforts to prepare the team for upcoming tough challenges. Quite recently, she said: "When we step on the court, we will need to execute, minimize our
errors and compete at a high level in order to be successful."
The team is also determined to put in extra effort, in order to improve in the 2012 season. Now the world has to wait and see if Leopards actually make a difference and make their head coach proud.
