  1. when i first went camping when i was about 5 or 6 in the back garden, i woke up in the early hours of the morning really really cold. i had to be rushed to my mums bed to warm me up. i was camping with my dad in separate sleeping bags. i dont camp now but i think you should keep the baby in with you in the same sleeping bag to share body heat. i dont know what else you could do. good luck :)

  2. You should be fine. Also, you can purchase the little pocket warmer packets and wrap them within the layers of the blanket, not directly touching the baby of course.

Here's a link to the warmers I'm talking about. You might be able to find them cheaper, but at leat you'll get what I'm referring to.

  3. taking a big chance of the little one catching a cold or something else. At that young age their bodies have not developed the anti-bodies needed to fight off the things we as adults can. If this is going to be in a cold climate you're taking a larger risk even if you have them wrapped up they can not tell you when they are cold.

One important thing comes to mind also I remember when my 2 were that small they were a huge handful and required a lot of attention, you know nurturing kind of things, walking around camp with an upset infant will probably ruin the trip for others if it doesn't yours first.

  4. Its hard to say because you don't know your baby's sleep habits yet. I could have taken my son no problem and he would have slept nicely with me. My daughter has always been an independant girl and never would have slept with me. By then you will have experience with the baby and you won't be so nervous about traveling with them. If you want you could do some dry runs by staying at a friends place overnight or in your own backyard in a tent for that matter. Keep them warm and dry and try to have a good time.

  5. I'm a father of 6. we've always took our children camping even when they are infants. you are on the right track keep baby wrapped up and comfortable depending on outside temp. and every thing will be just fine! besides indians were always on a camping trip was'nt they? It is only natural.
