Question:

Camping at Ontario Parks.

The Ontario Parks website says that no more than 6 people can stay at one site, however I have some friends and family who say its not true and its a rule that isn't enforced.

Does anyone know this to be true? Has anyone gone camping with a group larger than 6 people and stayed in one site. Lastly, do Parks do a count at the entrance to see how many people will be staying at a site?

-Thanks to any answerers.

  1. You may get lucky and get a group of laid back rangers, but you had better be safe because the power goes to some of their heads.

  2. In Algonquin park, where I camp regularly, they have this rule. However, in most provincial parks, you are charged per person, per day, not by the campsite. So 10 people staying at two sites is no more expensive than any other combination of people and campsites. Basically, just tell them you want two or more sites, and there's no rule that says you can't all spend your time together at one site if anyone should come nosing around asking. In all my years of camping in Ontario parks I've actually never seen anyone hassled by a ranger that wasn't excessively noisy or littering.
