I am going camping for the first time ever with my husband at Taconic State Park in NY( we are both 25). We are clueless about camping. what kind of activities we could do (games etc..)? what are the basic things we need to bring?

Has anyone been to Taconic State park in NY? I heard it is crowded.

Do you guys know of any State Parks in NY more couple oriented than family oriented?

thank you for your help

  4. I live in westchester County in new york and Clarence Fahnestock State Park is a really nice place to go camping. they have a big lake and alot of easy hiking trails. i live only 10 minutes from there and it is a really like place. People are nice and some hiking spots are very scenic. Hope u have a good camping trip. Have fun.

  5. You failed to mention why you're bothering to go, since you've never been, even as a child, and don't know what could possibly interest you? Is someone forcing you to go, or did you agree out of some obligation, or are you just trying to do everything once? All of those reasons sound like a recipe for disaster.

Camping isn't really conducive to romance, not only because you'll often wind up filthy by evening, but because the tent walls are very thin and the night is very quiet. I manage to avoid people and camp alone with my family, nearly every time, by going backpacking into the wilderness, by choosing spots that aren't as popular and mainly going on weekdays.

The most basic things you need for camping are some sort of shelter, usually a tent, something to keep you warm, usually sleeping bags but sometimes blankets and huddling near a fire, food and water, though water will probably be available in most pay campgrounds.
