Hi, I live on PEI, I have camped on the Island many many times, have camped on a small island in Fundy. We are trying to decide whether to go back to Fundy, stay on PEI or go around the Fredericton area or possibly Shediac. Any one have any suggestions???(Nova Scotia really doesnt do it for any of us, dont know why but it really doesnt)

  1. I'm from Moncton and we used to go camping all the time.  My first choice would be near Parlee Beach in Shediac because the beach is beautiful.  There is also Sandy Beach and Barachois in the same area.

And you should consider going to Grand Manan.  We went once and it was really fun.  There's a lot of camping and the island has a lot of wild rabbits that hang out in camp grounds.  It's really interesting to see.

Since you're from PEI, I would recommend going to New Brunswick, just so you can experience something different, although I loved camping in PEI.

  2. I'm guessing you want to do compaing near a nice beach. In that case, in my experience, PEI has some of the best ones in the Atlantic provinces (NS also has very nice ones, but I know you don't want me to suggest going there).

If you want to go to beaches that would be less crowded (since the PEI ones are very popular), there are some fairly good ones on the North East shore of New Brunswick (Caraquet, Shippagan, Tracadie areas, and my personal favourite, Isle de Lamèque...) Even though those are all French-speaking, Acadian areas, people there tend to be fairly bilingual and will be helpful to tourists.
