I have a code 41 Service engine code light which I recently diagnosed as a faulty camshaft sensor. The part is only $20 and every where I look they say it is an easy fix. I cannot seem to find the sensor though. If someone could tell me how to get to it and what I have to remove inorder to get to it, it would help me greatly. BTW: This is where autozone said it was located: "Under hood, passenger side, upper enginearea, between cylinder heads, mounted behind the power steering pump reservoir."

  1. OK, the sensor is not bad, it is the magnet on the camshaft gear. You have to remove the timing cover and reinstall a new magnet, you might as well put a new timing chain and gears on since you have to take them off anyway.

This is a very common problem on the early style 3.8  and 3.3l v6's The magnet falls of the cam gear and you get an error code for the sensor being bad. But in actuallity, the actuall sensor is still good.

I have done at least 20 of these repairs, and it is a VERY VERY common problem

BTW the sensor is located on the rear upper portion of the timing cover, its kind of a pain to get at........
