Can 2 HDMI cables interfere with each other?

I have a 32" LCD TV w/ 3 HDMI inputs. I have one HDMI cable hooked up to a PS3. And another HDMI cable hooked up to a PC Tower.

Sometimes when I try to switch over to the HDMI input thats connected to my PC tower from an input for my cable or my PS3, it will say "No Signal. Could having two HDMI cables hooked up to 2 diff. things (PS3 & Tower) cause interference? It also seem that I have to turn on the TV before I turn on the Tower, If not I get the "No signal" warning. And sometimes I have to unplug & replug the HDMI cable for the Tower for it to pick up the input signal.

  1. Actually that is not abnormal to see on your TV set.....

And since you are having problems MOSTLY with the PC, I suspect the video card is using a GENERIC Identifier for it, that they call the EDID...

Now, you might want to see if the TV manufacturer has a downloadable Firmware upgrade to update the EDID, and to do that you Google the Brand with "Customer care" and you might find the customer care center online....

Or you can look in your instruction book.....

  2. No, there is no interference, but the behaviour you see is not uncommon for HDMI, especially with PC video cards.

If your TV is off, the PC does not know where to output its signal (VGA or HDMi?) so actually there may not be HDMI output and you get a no signal.
