  1. Yes, eventually your muscles will be used to having that extra weight when doing those boxing drills, then when you box without them, your muscles will still be moving with the same force they'd use if you still had the weights in-hand, or at least a little more force than if you hadn't trained that way.

  2. If you're a strawweight, probably not.  If you're a middleweight or above, maybe.

If you just started yesterday, you probably should concentrate on basics rather than enhanced training techniques.

I agree with The Watcher.  If you shadowbox slow, you'll spar slow.  And if you spar slow you'll fight slow.  As Muhammad Ali might say, "If you fight slow , out you go!"

  3. yeah but be very careful as punching with wieghts can strain the lower back and the elbows.  I would suggest 1lb wieghts to start and if you feel any pain jus wear gloves when you shadow box use 16oz or 18oz gloves to build up your speed.

  4. Different trainers will give you different answers you can't have two chefs in one kitchen. My opinion is that the weights will make you keep your hands low thus getting you used to keeping your hands down. Boxing is muscle memory & if you do things wrong like keeping your hands low you will fight this way.

Even heavy bag gloves are bad most people think that they are good because when you use smaller gloves you will be faster or stronger? Nope, again when you get tired with those big heavy gloves your hands will be kept low & you will keep working like this & the end result your hands will be kept low.

I would suggest that when shadow boxing try doing it at full speed, get use to this & you will pick up speed. Watch guys who shadow box really slow & then watch them spar its almost the same speed. Now watch the guys shadow boxing really fast & watch them spar, you will see the difference yourself. Speed comes from quick twitch muscles.
