Can't Get Dan Brown's Rubik Cube Last Step Algorithm to Work

Question

I'm using Dan Brown's method of solving the Rubik's Cube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IW_BBp3FPMQ&feature=related). I'm able to get up to 2 layers solved and blue cross edge middle pieces having their corresponding pieces lined up with their respective center pieces on the side and the four corner pieces lined up but not necessarily in the right orientation.

The Ri Di R D algorithm works to get the top layer fixed but it always messes up the lower layers. I've done this five times.

I've done the last step numerous times but the corner piece does not align with corresponding colours, keeps staying the way it is.
