Question:

Can't Matlab be used to build System Dynamics Models?

We normally use Vensim or Stella as a modeling tool for System Dynamics. But isn't Matlab as good as any other tool? I am an engineering student (Masters Level) and have experience with Matlab. Has anyone used Matlab for System Dynamics modeling at intermediate or expert level? Any suggestions or comments regarding the of difficulty while building models in Matlab?

Thanks

  1. According to my information, dynamics calculations and solutions of equation could be handled as a piece of cake in matlab.

But if you mean the dynamic system prototype, which experiments the actual motion of the dynamic mechanisms, stress analysis and  parts assembly.. then Autodest Inventor will help you the best.
