Can't Remember French Spread Name...?

I went to an after school party a few years ago with my friend. It was for her French class and we had to eat French food and watch Finding Nemo in French. Her teacher explained this "spread" that she bought that was a French spread and it was similar to peanut butter AND chocolate together. I remember it was sweet, different and was usually put on bread but I can't remember the name of it for the life of me.. It came in a peanut butter looking jar but half the size and I think it had a white label with a picture and the name. It's not like Marmite or Vegamite.. it was actually GOOD. (haha, kidding.. no offense.) It wasn't bitter but I can't remember if it was a little darker than peanut butter or a little lighter than chocolate...

PLEASE help me.. it's driving me crazy not being able to remember the name..

  1. That is called NUTELLA..it is the equivalent of peanut butter for the American...Very popular in France and Europe.

  2. Nutella.  And it's made with hazelnuts (noisettes) not peanuts.

  3. Nut..ell..ah.....*drool*

  4. As the others have said ... I also believe you're describing Nutella. A chocolate-hazelnut spread. Since you know what the jar and label look like... I've included a photo link below, so you can confirm it as Nutella, for yourself.

Yes. Nutella is tradtionally eaten on bread. But, it's Heavenly on pound cake or Angel Food cake. Also, on Vanilla Wafers.
