Can't Remember Game Name or what it was need help plz. Searched everywhere.?

Question

I remember as a child seeing a game that my parents would play and i can not for the love of god figure out what the game was. I remember slight details of it and i can't figure it out. Ok first off it was like a board game but there was a vhs that came with the board. There was like a boogeyman figure or something on the screen and alot of purple (Board and movie) I assume that you played in corrospondance with the movie. But i can not figure out what it was and now i can't go to sleep becuase its bugging me. (Give me a break on the details i think i was three becuase i wasnt in school yet)
