  1. Home Remedies for Poison Ivy

You can apply Calamine lotion on the affected area.

Applying calendula lotion on the rashes helps in reducing the itching and spread of rashes.

Cool compresses would provide a great relief as it helps in containing the itchy feeling.

You can apply a slice of watermelon on the rash to help in healing and soothing the skin.

Make a thick paste of half a cup of baking soda and proportionate amount of coffee. Pour cool coffee in the baking soda bowl to make a thick and fine paste to be applied on the rash.

Let it dry naturally and you would notice the difference in a day or two.

Apply Vicks VapoRub on the affected area and get rid of the itching.

Boil some leaves from peach tree.

Wait till it cools down; later dab this solution with cotton on the affected areas. There won’t be any more rashes to bother you anymore.

You can also apply milk of magnesia at affected part to stop the itching and provide a soothing effect.

Rubbing banana peel over the affected area can help you with the itching and rashes.

To provide relief pour aloe vera juice or apply tofu on the affected area. This helps in soothing and drying out the poison.

  2. It depends on what you were given for the itching.  It would be ideal if you could also take either Benedryl or Chlor-trimeon since both are antihistamines and both are also sold as sleep aids.  Call your pharmacy and ask them if you can take either one of these along with your prescription.

  3. try putting some caladryl cream on the itchy parts. and a bath in oatmeal will also help the itchiness. anything that will make eczema feel less itchy will also work on poison ivy. hope you feel better soon.

  4. lotion that is used for excema and Benadryl

  5. Hi,

I had something like that some time ago and I tried Pure Lavender essential oil. It really helped me, specially at night. It seems that at night out bodies detoxify and that is why it's itching. Apply it neat.

    Hope you feel better!

  6. You might consider getting a hydrocortisone spray for your skin. It will relieve some of the itching and make you better able to fall asleep.

Since you're already on meds, the spray probably runs the lowest risk of interaction with what you're already taking. But check with your doctor or pharmacist to make sure.

  7. Tylenol pm or Benedryl will probably help. Ask Dr. or pharmacist first if you can take with your other meds.

  8. Benedryl makes me tired. Also dramamine.
