Question:

Can't change Boot Sequence in BIOS?

For instance, the hard drive, when I click on enter to change the sequence it give a choice of disable or the name of the hard drive.

The Floppy sequence has other choices but the hard drive or DVD are not included in the list.

The DVD choice is the same as the floppy, no hard drive or floppy choice. It seems to be fixed. Any ideas?......

  1. it depends on  your motherboard,  some of  them have a different configuration,,

    1. either you could find out the motherboard configuration via manufactures website

    or 2. try the Boot menu from the bios

    Is the bios actually seeing the DVD?

    You need admin rights to make changers to your comp.

    turn on UAC (ADMIN RIGHTS)

    1 start menu

    2 click-on your display picture on the top right

    3 Turn User Accounts Control on or off

    4 check box UAC

    Turn it off when done because if malware gets in it will be allowed to make changes to your computer

      

  4. Depends what you are trying to do.... If you want to boot from a dvd then you could try seeing if your boot sequence includes a 'boot' menu...

    Watch the machine boot up and try hitting f8 or f12 or f2 as it boots... One of those will usually allow you to choose another boot device for a one of.

    The boot screen usually tells you which f number to press...
