Before I bought her I had bought a 2 year old dog from the pound. I loved him. He was really playful and always energetic. He got lost about a year ago and I thought it was time to move on so I got another dog. She's 17 weeks old and kind of playful, but I guess I'm just disappointed because she's not like my other dog. She's really needy and loud and inattentive. Do you think as she ages she will be more mature, or will she have the same personality?

  1. i depends on what kind of dog it is!

  2. Train train train. The reason your other dog was just like you like him was because he was an adult. This one is still a puppy.

A great resource to look up on is NILIF. (Nothing in life is free)

You want the perfect dog? You have to train her to be the perfect dog!

  3. puppies are needy and clingy.. as she matures she wont be as needy.

She will not be like your other dog tho.  She will have her own personality and temperment.

  4. Dogs are what we make of them.... you want a good dog, train her.  You want a quiet dog... take her out for a long walk and tire her out.  Want her to be just like you other dog... find her a good home and look for that favorite photo of your last dog and remember the good ol times!

  5. she will probably never be like your old dog. but if you give it time, you will fall in love with her too. but right now she is a puppy. she will mature as she grows up, but she also need proper training. love her for who she is, not who she is not!

  6. all dogs have a different personality's. There's probably no way your new dog will ever be like your old. She will mature...it just may take time. Don't be disappointed with the new dog, give the love you once gave your lost dog.

  7. she'll change once she gets a lot older(a lot), but you have to teach her not to bark and stuff

  8. No two dogs are the same - I don't really understand why you were under the impression that your puppy would be like your other dog.

Anyways, she is a puppy... and they are annoying and loud and everything else.  Train her right, and she will eventually slow down.

  9. Well sorry to say this but it was kinda of wrong of you to buy a dog and assume she would be like your other dog. No two dogs are a like honey and all puppies are annoying and rambunctious. And yes with time they eventually mature but some dogs not so much. Some have the same personality, but they're habits change and some stay the same. So basically it would be wrong of you to get rid of your dog just because she isn't like your other one. Train her and give her lots of love attention cause your her new mother in her eye's. I have two puppies now myself and I lost one be for I got them awhile back, and she died in my arms and nothing could or will ever replace her. I miss her but you have to move on. It isn't fair to her that your not giving your all to something that loves you unconditionally.

And that's what she does for you just give her a chance she is your responsibility  because you got her and brought her to your home. It would be sad if you took her back because she wasn't like your last dog and that you didn't give her a chance. But hopefully that you will just give her time and let her grow on you and take really good care of her she needs you and you need her. Good luck and trust me she will be worth your while.

  10. You can't compare her to your last dog.  Every dog has it's own personality and you will rarely get ones with the same temperment.  You need to realize that you decided to have her as your pet and that even though she is a bit more needy, you still need to love and care for her properly.  And 17 weeks isn't very old.  She's still a puppy.  Take her for regular walks and get her socialized with other animals and she will likely calm down.
