I was just in Guatemala for 10 days, and was in a situation where I had to drink bad water or be forced to seriously offend a family so I drank it.

It could have been something I ate, but I doubt it.

For the past 5 days, I've had horrible cramping and it gets worse after I eat anything and I've had diarrhea. At one point my stools have been completely black and I'm trying to not eat as much as possible.

When I haven't eaten for a long time, I'll start to feel less pain, and I'll want to eat, and then when I do, the pain returns and it is awful.

I'm going to the doctor tomorrow, but I was wondering if there is anything I could eat or drink if anyone has had this type of bug before that won't pain.

Even water hurts, but I'm going to try to drink a lot of fruit juice and maybe a little bit of solid food.

  1. I had a stomach virus which took everything I ate or drank, turned it into a painful cramp, and whoosh....out the other end. When I went to the doctor, they told me drink nothing but water the first day. Try that until tomorrow. They also said nothing to eat except one thing, PAPAYA. Apparently there's something in papaya that helps calm your stomach when it's acting up. You may want to try it out.

  2. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER

AN Y NOT TRY SOUP :)

  3. When you have truly black stool the only thing it can be is digested blood. So definitely see a doctor if not go to the ER, because you might be bleeding internally from a nasty infection.

  4. Go to the drug store and buy Pedialyte and try to drink as much as you can along with water even if it is discomforting because if you are suffering from diarrhea you can easily become dehydrated which will only complicate things no matter what the main problem is.  Sounds to me like you have a serious gastric-intestinal virus or perhaps some type of worm.  Black stool is usually caused by bleeding in the upper digestive tract so I am glad that you already have an appointment for the doctor tomorrow.  I wish I had a more clear cut answer for you.  Best wishes for a speedy recovery

  5. Sounds like you picked up a nasty bug. Be sure to drink plenty of fluids until you see the Dr, you  do not know what to get dehydrated.
