I use google as my main search engine in firefox but I have tried to delete the history of my searches and it doesn't seem to be working. I've tried going to tools and options . I've tried clear data now.. Nothing works.. I've got searches on there from weeks ago .

Can someone tell me how to clear googles search history in modzilla firefox that actually works?

  1. After you are done going on to naughty websites just restart the computer it erases all your history.

  2. change your firefox preferences to clear private data or empty cashe this will also erase all remembered passwords.

  3. I'm using Firefox 2.0 (I think):

Go to the pull down button on the search bar (should show a list of search engines)

At the bottom there should be a option that says "manage search engines"-- click on that and select Google

at the bottom should be a check box for "show search suggestions" or something similar.

    Uncheck this.

This should prevent things from showing up.

Also try going to "tools"->"options"->"privacy" tab and uncheck the "remember what I write in forms/search" then clear history and stuff.

    Good luck

Edit: You have probably already tried this, but go to "tools"-> "options"-> "privacy" tab and find where it says clear private data "settings" and make sure that "clear history/search" is marked.  Then clear your private data.

Also, if you have someone that can see your search history maybe just change your windows/OS password and don't tell that person.
