Can't get a passport because of birth documentation?

A friend of mine doesn't have official birth records, so she can't get a passport to visit her sick daughter (VERY sick). She would have trouble getting back into the U.S. Has anybody dealt with this kind of problem? What should she do? Time is short.......thanks for any answers or clues.

  1. She will have to deal with her birth registration so she can receive an offical birth certificate.  Although she will not require a passport to drive she will require a birth certificate as well as her Driver's License or other official photo ID.

Since a birth certificate is required for many forms of ID her best bet is to look into it and get it sorted out asap.  Once that is done she can probably apply for a rush birth certificate and passport due to the circumstances.

  2. If she's not a citizen of the USA and doesn't hold any documents like a immigration appeal. It's a matter of giving up USA or stay. But if she has a fiance or an application this matters can be discuss with her lawyer.

This is a very complex issue.

Good luck and hope everything goes to your friends advantage.

  3. only thing she can do it contact the records office of the county she was born in and request an official copy. Once she gets that, she can get the passport. If she dirves into cananda instead of flying, she may be okay with what she already has.
