Can't get surround while watching cable tv, however i can get it while watching dvds?

Question

HDTV connected to cable box via HDMI, HDTV connected to home theater via HDMI, then cable to home theater via audio cables (red and white).

Also, most cable boxes have audio settings.  Hit the settings button on the cable remote to adjust them.  You may also want to look at the audio settings on the tv, under the menu option.

well using the red & white plugs you won't get surround. the best you will get is pro logic. most cable boxes will have an optical output try using that. remember most cable chanels don't broadcast in surround.
