Ever since my sister went to college, I can't sleep at night. I rarely stay asleep for the whole night. I am kind of tired, but i keep thinking of scary things that keep me awake.

When someone is in the room or the light is on, I can sleep great!!

Night Lights don't work for me and i can't leave the light on all night long.

What can i do to sleep well without having a light on, or someone in the room?

  1. It's natural to experience a sleep interruption when your sleep patterns change. You were used to having your sister in the room. It may help you to have another "presence" there as a substitute, such as a radio show. You could have a talk radio show on low--something soothing-- to help to lull you to sleep.

If that doesn't work, try using a music CD of soothing sounds on low volume.

  2. if you have an ipod you could listen to quiet music in your ear while you fall asleep, or from a boom box (thats what i do)

you could also try reading a good book until you get so tired that you fall asleep as soon as your head gets on a pillow

    good luck!

  3. Perhaps a TV on on Sleep mode?  Set it for 15 to 30 minutes at low volume and a very boring show.  It may help.
