i play the pianno, i am at the intermediate level. I am level C i guess and the levels go all the way up to D. anyhow, if i practice a song i can play it. the thing is i end up memorizing the notes, is that normal? and then when i play the songs, i don't hear the sound itself, i hear the notes like if i am playing moonlight sonata i hear in my head G C E G C E G C E GCE and so on. if i want to hear the song itself i have to set my keyboard to a different sound violin or cello or whatever not pianno then record it and then i listen to it. is that normal? whats wrong with me?

  1. Yep. We Have A Tendency To Memorize Notes.

  2. Its perfectly normal and its called photographic memory. I have it as well, alot of truly talented people do have this. Its a skill, not a burden.

It allows you to play back things in your head, sometimes right before as they happen. For more explanation about the complexities of photographic memory and the wonderful gift it is, see the articles as follows. Thanks for the question.
