I've recently purchased a Soniq 17" TV and am having a hard time connecting it to my dvd player and my set top box, the sound doesn't override when I switched outputs. The Soniq TV only has the one set of the Yellow, Red and White cable sockets, and one set of the YPbPr sockets. I have a set of the Yellow, Red and White cables and the YPbPr cables. Pls help?

  1. You will have to connect both the DVD player and the digital set-top box to your TV, to the one RCA input. To do so, you will need an RCA switch box. It will allow you to connect more than one device to one RCA input in your TV. You can buy one from Radio Shack, or similar stores.

  2. It uses the same sound ports for both devices.  Get a switching device to switch between the DVD and the set top device.

  3. With the YPbPr cables (also called component cables), you need another set of red and white audio cables.  The red, blue and green of that are all only for video.  If you don't have the extra two white and red connected, you won't get sound.

Generally, if you have the yellow, red, and white outlets (those wires are called composite cables) and the YPbPr outlets, there will be an additional red and white for the component section.
