Can't import to Windows Movie Maker, major help

Question

I bought a GameBridge TV capture thinger a couple days ago.

I recorded everything and it's all on my computer.

But I can't import it to Windows Movie Maker! (WMM)

It says I need a certain codec.

I tried converting the file to AVI or WMV, but it still won't work!

When I convert it, their's a long green bar at the bottom and makes the video look squished and I STILL can't import to WMM.

I need major help!

The Adaptek GameBridge TV device records video to MPEG-1 (VCD) or MPEG-2 (DVD).

If you are capturing to MPEG-2, you will not be able to import it into Windows Movie Maker.  Try changing the capture settings to MPEG-1.  If that does not work with Windows Movie Maker, you will need to upgrade your video editing software to Sony Vegas Pro or Pinnacle Studio (for under $100) or to something better like Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 (for a bit more).

You also have a cheaper option.  You can download a copy of Quicktime Pro from Apple and Register it for $30.  You can then use Quicktime's simple editing to finish your video, or you can use QT to convert your videos from MPEG to a variety of formats for including AVI which will work in Windows Movie Maker and MOV or MP4 which will work very well on YouTube.

look at the codec that it says, type it into google search and you should be able to download it, then restart wmm and it should work

ok here it is if you want windows movie maker you must go to yahoo or google or where ever you want and search windows movie maker. then go to the website to download or install it. if you cant you should get an anti-virus first. hope this helps!!
