Can't keep my cat off counter & stove and out of sink.?

I'm sick of cat hair in my sink and the houseplants on my only usable window sill getting knocked off onto the floor or spilled across the counter and stove under them. I'm also afraid she will turn on the sink or gas stove. She's very smart and will jump or step over anything put down to deter her. Spraying her with water makes her mad at me but doesn't deter her. She'll knock dishes out of the sink so she can lay in it. I've even turned on the water while she was in it and it didn't help. Also, the next step is for her to jump on top of the short refrigerator and then the wall cabinets to knock everything off them. I live in an apartment and I need that space to store things. I've had her for 9 months and she's never done this before. She has lots of other places to sleep and climb. My cats have lots of different toys, and she has another cat to play with and they get along great, so she shouldn't be bored. I can cover the counter with things and she just jumps on top of them and pushes them off.

  1. Your cat is looking for a place to perch and cool off. Try this place a Coleus plant near or on anywhere you don't want her.It has a nasty odor to cats so they won't go near it.Then buy her a perching bed, something that is vented and will attach to a window sill.I guarantee she will perch on it.

  2. personally, i live for my cats so ide say you autta rethink the reasons why you have one.  Then, if you really love your cat, then compromise accordingly.  Cats are like wives, cept better in my experience.  Just move things around till you find a happy medium!

  3. Cats object to walking on aluminium foil, double sided tape and bubblewrap.

I had great luck with "No Stay" spray.  My cat avoids it like the plague, but I don't smell anything.  Also, it didn't damage anything I sprayed it on.

Any of this will work as well.

Offer high places for her to hang out.  Get cheap shelves at Home Depot and make them a "cat zone".  Cats make wonderful use of vertical space.  Put the shelves up toward the ceiling.

Maybe you could pick up a cheap sink.  LOL!

Seriously, she's looking for a cool, "cradle type" bed.  She might accept a big bowl as a sink substitute.  Maybe even try one of the deep, circle cat beds.

  4. lock your cat out (tt(tried and tested)really)

  5. Wow, you have a seriously moody cat. If you've tried spraying her with a water bottle and that didn't help, I'd say the next step would be to put pennies in a can and shake it every time she does it. Normally, no matter how stubborn or moody the cat is, that will scare them away.

Also, I think there's a spray or a scent that repels animals away from certain places.

    Good luck!

    :)

  6. Our cat used to do that all the time, Try using orange.

I know that sounds werid and it will make your kitchen smell like orange until She learns not to jump up there.

Cats hate the smell of orange peal so either leave random little bits around your plant pots or even just rub it over the units.

We did that and our cat doesnt jump up anymore =3

    Hope this helps <3
