the harder i try to lift myself up, in my mind, i can't bring myself to stop being down.. i just become worse and more down and frustrated? in the end i usually wear off but i wish i could just drift my thoughts away when i sensed bad feelings. i just started a low dose anti-depressants so i do have a little problem but anyone know how i can stop the thoughts that get me paranoid and how i can actually lift myself up instead of drowning myself in my attempt?

  1. This is so sad-do you know that one in five men and one in four women are suffering from depression these days. It usually takes a couple of weeks for anti-depressants to kick in, but we also need some help with cognitive behaviour therapy. There is an australian group called beyond blue, and another called black dog institute(google them) which you can join for support if you cannot go to a regular therapist.

I know these paranoid thoughts come-let them come and let them go-be patient with yourself-you will get better. And I know it is VERY difficult to get started, but exercise DOES help-if you can get yourself straight out of bed in the morning when you wake up and go for a walk, you will get a lift-start off slowly and build up gently.   Good luck-just remember, there IS help for you.
