Can't play songs--just see "connecting" repeatedly?

use more details....

if for a ipod then disconnect it, and if that dosent work then reset it, this is how you reset:

move the little lock thing at the bottom back and forth, then hold the menu and center part at the same time. and if that dosent work turn off your computer while its still in.. and if that dosent work then idk
