I am trying to do multitrack recording on my PC. I am having difficulties. On my mixer, the Behriner UB1622FX Pro I get a good signal from the monitor headphones. I then try and send this signal from the CD/Tape Outputs using RCA to a mini plug into my PC. I have also tryed using the main out and the headphone monitor as well. The computer won't receive the signal. What do I need to do to transfer my signal into the PC?

  1. This sounds like a computer problem because the mixer is probably working fine.  Have you looked at the volume control settings on the lower right of the PC screen?  They are accessed by double clicking on the little round picture of a speaker.  Make sure the "line in" volume is up.  Also, make sure you are using the light blue connector on the back or front of your PC - that is the line input.  Hope this helps.

  2. first of all make sure that your montiors are in post fader.  That will assure you that signal is actualy coming through and not being blocked by a circuit.  Then try pluggin in the CD tape outputs into a stereo or something to make sure that it is coming out all right.  If everything is okay check to make sure that sound card is not muted in the line in.
