Question:

Can't technology stop drunk driving?

I think every car should be equipped with a mechanism that measures your alcohol level before you can turn it on. We had two people (including a 5 year old kid) killed by drunk drivers this weekend. I think there's no excuse for not making vehicles drunk-proof.

  1. Unfortunately, only the person that puts the beverage to their mouth can stop drunk driving.

    Technology can't solve every problem. . .

We, as a society, still have some responsibility.

  2. Yes there is. Some states have them as mandatory compliance for convicted drunk drivers.Equipping all the cars made would not be the answer. Stiffer enforcement, longer PRISON and I mean PRISON-not a minimum security country club. along with BIG TIME FINES $$$ If I/we had the answer,I don't think we'd be sitting around playing on the computer. It all comes down to federal money and taxes.

  3. no

  4. i've said it before be careful what you wish for as you may get it. Your a woman who had one drink, you are legal to drive in all states, your on your way to your car when you hear rapid footsteps behind you, you make the car o.k and just in the nick of time you attemp to start the car but your wonderful idea won't allow that to happen until you blow into a tube to see if you are legal to drive. BANG BANG enough said

  5. Yes and new Nissan technology under development checks odor, sweat and driver awareness, and locks up the car ignition if the driver is intoxicated.

  6. this is another case of people trying to put the blame on someone else, they have those breathalizers in cars already, and you know as well as i do that there are ways around everything
