  1. An anagram is a word or phrase that uses the same letters as another word or phrase, without any omissions or repeats.  For example, "prenatal" is an anagram of "parental", "keep" is an anagram of "peek", "Superman" is an anagram of "amp nurse", etc.  They don't have to make sense, but they do have to be complete words.

If you're talking about words like "wind" (the air that blows around; rhymes with "sinned") and "wind" (what you do to a wristwatch; rhyes with "find") then those are called homographs.  These aren't to be confused with words pronounced the same but spelled differently (like "no" and "know"), which are homophones.

  2. homograph (same spelling) is the term for words which have the same spelling, but different meanings, like:

    bear - animal

    bear - carry

They can have different sounds, like:

bow - the type you tie

bow - where you bend at the waist

If it has the same letters, but in a different order, it's an anagram.

  3. anagram?
