Question:

Can't we all just get along?

Why do you think it is that half of the questions asked in the Nascar section of Yahoo Answers end up in a flame war between team Jr. and team Busch. You can look through the backlog, and probably find the same dozen people constantly arguing the same dozen points over and over and over.

  1. You're right!

We need more A.J.  Allmendinger vs Sam Hornish Jr Flame wars.

  2. it would be nice, but there aren't all that many rational people asking and answering questions on here, especially after a race and during the summer (school's out and the youngun's like to get on and flame away). and the reason that half of the questions end up in flame wars between junior's fans and rowdy's fans is three-fold:

    1) many people are very immature, especially when it comes to talking about their favorite and least favorite drivers; 2) those two are the big news this year - rowdy for his behavior on and off the track and dale jr because, well, he's dale junior - whatever those two do is news. the funny thing is that there's far more of a rivalry between junior fans and rowdy fans than there is between those two guys; 3) people love to say the same things over and over and over again - believing for some odd reason that they are going to change someone's mind about their favorite driver.

as for me and the people on my contacts list (and others i'm sure), we do our best to cheer for and/or defend our favorite driver without bashing other drivers or their fans as a whole. some people, however, are just sooo inflammatory in their questions and answers that it is near impossible to resist the temptation to fire back every now and then. at worst, i don't find needling the fans of other drivers or getting needled by them every now and then offensive, but the level of "hatred" that is often displayed on here amazes me. it's one thing to be a fan of a driver (or a team - basketball, football, whatever) and have a rivalry, but hatred, come on.

and it is possible to act civilized - i myself have answered numerous "busch-bashing" questions, like helping someone find a "kyle busch sucks" t-shirt online, or videos or pictures of kyle doing something "negative." not like i'm the poster-boy for how to be civilized or anything, but i'm just saying it can be done...

and to date, all attempts to try to get consensus for people to "stop the madness" have failed miserably and will continue to do so. it's the nature of the beast, especially on sundays. a six pack of beer, a bad finish for your favorite driver (or a good one for your least favorite) and a keyboard are dangerous things when combined. there should be a warning label or a usb breathalyzer attachment that a user should have to blow into and pass before entering the section - but that would take away some of the fun as well.

most of the regulars on here are usually quite respectful. we all have our moments, and often those occur after doing nothing but reading inflammatory c**p being written time and again bashing drivers or fans or particular individuals who don't deserve it. thus, many regulars avoid coming on here right after a race, especially if something happens to or by either rowdy or junior - win, lose, or wreck. the noise level just gets too great. even today, how many times can the same question be asked "how bad did nascar/goodyear/the race/espn suck today?" i'll bet there are dozens of such questions that could have been condensed into about a half-dozen question without losing a thing.

and think of how boring it would all be if we all just got along... everyone singing "kum ba yah" and "for he's a jolly good fellow" at the end of each race, no matter who won. i know i wouldn't come back...

    ;-)

ps. and then there's those windbags who can't seem to answer a question in less than a thousand words... man wouldn't it be great if something could be done about them...

    ;-)

  3. it wont stop man kyle could give jr the win an be like this is the man to beat  everybody would stil hate on him

  4. I know. I always find myself in my other favorite forum, Beer, Wine, & Spirits, just because there's so many haters that they suck the fun out of getting on here and asking and answering decent questions.

  5. For the most part I've stopped answering those questions.

I have no problem with people disliking Kyle, some of my favorite people on here have made it perfectly clear that they don't, that's fine.

Some people seem to forget this is an open forum to discuss our mutual passion for the sport, not a free-for-all WWE Smackdown.

  6. jr fans always have to knock someone else to show their loyalty. last year it was the hendrick organization, before that they tried to justify dales lack of success against matt kenseth who started the same time as jr. why they do this, i don't know. being a fan shouldn't mean hating other teams.

  7. yes i know. that's how i like it.

nascar racing is a sport. in a sport you find someone to root for and someone to root against. The constant bashing is just true race fans giving their opinions. In other words, backing up your favorite drivers and bashing your hated drivers.

I know it makes a lot of people mad, but face it. No one is supposed to "get along" in NASCAR Racing.

  8. It amazes me too!  People answer non serious questions, but then they can not answer serious ones.  It seems just as life is; everybody is in their own clicks and they pick who they like best in their clicks for the answer as well as their clicks for drivers.  Pretty sad considering I graduated from high school in 1993!

You would think that most people would just stop arguing the points again and again, but that is not human nature.  Humans, especially on this forum, love to argue.  I do not think most would know a serious question if it were to slap them in their face.

In addition it is not the drivers that make themselves look bad, it is their fans that do.  Just look at some of these forums and my point will prove itself again and again.

I am looking forward to the race on Sunday.

  9. To me, this is sort of like the Red Sox/ Yankees rivalry. The players on the teams (mostly) get along just fine, and it's' more between the fans, not the teams themselves.

  10. Yeah you are so right, that's why I don't answer to many anymore.  It's gotten so silly!  Reminds me of children arguing, same ole same ole.  Once in a while there will something different posted though.  Great Question!

  11. Let them argue. That's what idiots do.

They fail to realize that NASCAR is merely a form of entertainment and they've fallen prey to all of the media hype. There might be three of all of the drivers that would even give you the time of day. They don't know you and you don't know them and that's the way they like it.

  12. Passion.

    And the media hype.

Geeze, one of them farts and it's front page news.

Jr. finished 12Th, Kyle finished 15Th. Where's all the lovers and haters today? Neither one had a great day, or a terrible day, but it's awfully quiet out there!!!

  13. It's because people get obsessed with one driver. Look at all my  answers and see how happy I am, because I like everyone. I'm surprised how many  people didn't like the race at Indianapolis. Next thing you know they'll be whining about Pocono. This is a technical sport not a fashion show. The average person here is so superficial it comes out in their Q/A with their feelings gushing all over the page. Emotions don't win races and that's not what racing is about. You are dealing with the general public, which is actually a scary thing. My answer to your question is "No" and you got to get for real. You can't change society.

  14. h**l the a$$holes took my question pick the winner ? for the nationwide race and deleted it- said it was points gaming

ive asked 19 other ones just like it they did'nt say nothing about them

    i dont get it

i wonder if they took 10 points from winter glory for best snswer
