I'm surprised given the popularity of the Desert Eagle handgun, that I haven't seen any fitted with a suppressor. Is it possible to suppress the Desert Eagle?

  1. Anything is possible, just add money.

But why would you want to?

To be of any use the can would have to be huge. It would probably mess up the balance of the gun to the point that it would be no fun to shoot.

Also taking a weapon that's already fussy about ammo and making a change like that to it would be just acting for trouble.

The Deagles are popular with the airsofters and the video game crowds.

They are ok range toys but are pretty much useless as far as practical hand gun usage goes.

  2. Any gun can be suppressed. But little is gained by suppressing any supersonic weapon, as the passage of the bullet makes a loud sonic rip, almost as loud as typical muzzle blast. The Desert Eagle is supersonic, and tuned for that ammo, so there is no easy cure for that situation. Regards, Larry.

  3. Yes you can suppress the DE but you don't want to. I have some personal experience at this. 1- it will affect the recoil action. 2- to be effective it is very cumbersome. 3- the weight is not manageable. 4- you have to use the extended barrel and the only way to secure it is to thread the end; thus making the barrel useless for resale. 5 and finally  because of the diameter needed you loose any effective sight picture.

I've been a DE owner since 95 and at first was not satisfied with the handling or quality. It took some time to work up the first pistol to be an effective weapon. My favorite is my first old model 44, it had to have a trigger job, slide polished, barrel and slide matched, hammer shaped, and the feed ramp polished.

The DE has a lot of critics and several followers, with some time and patience you can get one that you'll be happy with. I use mine to hunt hogs and whitetail with, not mention the occasional trip to the wrecking yard to ventilate some doors and hoods.

  4. any gun except a revolver can be suppressed with enough money and effort

Anyone want to back one of those TDs up

  5. i've never seen a deagle with a surpressor on it.. im sure it could be, but it looks too coll without one :)

  6. well the DE is a huge waste of money but yes it can be suppressed. The effectiveness of the suppressor will depend on a few factors.

    1. Good quality baffles. 2. Caliber and velocity of the round being fired

    3. how well it's fitted etc...

  7. YES!!!

Most of the complaints about the Desert Eagle are from those who bought them for the looks and are dissappointed because they can not shoot it like their heroes in action movies like Robocop.

Desert Eagles are great for hunting and target shooting.   You would not carry it around in a holster with a suppressor.   If you were using it for hunting, you could attach it once you get to your hunting stand.    You also would not be hunting with open sights.  A conventional scope or a red dot or holo type sight work very well.

All of the whining about ammunition is a bunch of c**p.  Desert Eagle lists compatible ammo on their web site.  If you can afford to purchase a $1K handgun, you can afford a $30 box of shells for hunting with it and a $25 box of ammo for practice.  If you want a plinker, stick to one of the tupperware pistols in 9mm.

  8. 1  the desert eagle is NOT popular. It is common in movies but as it is a hunk of junk, it is not popular in the real world

#2 because it is a hunk of junk on suppressor manufacturer is going to waste his time making a suppressor for that joke of a gun.  Yes it is definitely possible, with a big suppressor, but why bother?

I did not give vangion a thumbs down but he should know that the Russian 1895 Nagant Revolver due to the cylinder moving forward and eliminating the gap can indeed be supressed quite effectively.  However, I suspect that like me you have developed a 'hate based' group after proving other people wrong or not being totally fawning and overly polite at all times.  I see my thumbs down as badges of honor.  If I p**s off the antis, GOOD! if I p**s off the whiners, GOOD!

  9. sure if you want to add some more weight to you paperweight why not

  10. Why? so it can jam silently?
