Question:

Can A Family Of Rabbits Live In One Cage?

Just Curious. Can a family of rabbits live in one big cage?

For example a male and a female rabbit, both neutered and spayed, and with 2 baby bunnies..lets say around the age of 6 weeks. What would happen? Would the Male try to eat his baby bunnies? Would the male try to mate with his female daughter even though he would be neutered? Would it be safe? Healthy? All these kind of questions.

Thank You Very Much.

  1. Well, I used to raise and breed Holland Lops for years so I know the answer to your question!  I would definitely NOT keep bunnies that young young with the adults at this point.  I don't think they'd try to eat them but they could fight with them and do some harm.  Yes, the male would probably try to mate with them even though he's neutered.  I'd also keep the babies separate from the adults for a while (like in quarantine) to make sure they aren't carrying any diseases or parasites that they could give to your healthy adults.  I think you could gradually introduce the babies to the adults in a couple of months and providing that they look like they'd get along alright, it'd be fine to keep them together.  However, your cage must be VERY big for four rabbits.  You'd almost have to have a large hutch.  They'd be more apt to get along together with the more space they had.  Good luck with your bunnies.  BTW, what kind do you have?
