Does anyone know of a theory or have their own info about a possible ancient connection between Aborigines and the Dravidians? There seem to be similarities in language and music.

  2. Well,fallen angel,

You certainly have questions that you want answers to.

I have no idea what a Dravidian is but I do know that we are all related as we all come from one human pair ,Adam and Eve.So, we are all related, no matter what colour of our skin or our language.Every ancient tribe from 6000 thousand years ago has some relation to us today, in culture or religion or language or music.

I am going to have to look up what a Dravidian is though.

    Thanks for the question.

  3. I think so. Look at the aborginal populations of Andaman and Nicobar and also Papua New Guinea. They form a line streaching from South india to Australia. I think they were the first out of the human cradle (Africa) and were slowly pushed further and further out by newer peoples.

  4. Australia was "colonized" by people vis-a-vis the many islands and probably a lower water level.  Hence, many cultural traits are share with those living in Papua New Guinea and other southern Pacific Islands.  So its possible that traits can shared all the way to the north to India.

But.....there are many cultural traits that are not directly related but are similar.  This was something that Julian Steward was interested in; why were some things similar, when diffusion couldnt account for it? Technology, architecture, etc., can all be held to this. To answer the question more fully, we'd need to know exactly what parts of the language and music are similar.  Much like looking at the entire Athapaskan language family; what parts are similar between Cree and Navajo?

  5. No idea who the Dravidians are.

But I'm interested in knowing who are you refering to as "Aborigines"? Are you talking (generally) about the 4th World - indigenous people from all over the world. Or are you talking about the Australian Aborigines (Indigenous to Australia) - who generally speaking the "Australian" bit is assumed almost globally.

    .

  6. Yes. There are people in southern india called 'veddoids', who are

racially related to the aboriginies. The veddoids constitute part of the

    dravidian genepool.
