Can Advil cause cancer?

My friends mom told her and she told me that advil can cause cancer so they dont use it. Is it true?

Advil (Ibuprofen) is an anti-inflammatory COX inhibitor.  Numerous studies suggest it may help PREVENT some cancers.  Chronic inflammation drives the process of carcinogenesis, so an anti-inflammatory may help slow the process.  In spite of this potential benefit, keep in mind that Ibuprofen has many potentially dangerous side-effects.

  6. never heard of that...I have heard of people getting bad stomach problems and ulcers but that's only if you take it everyday when u don't need it and take more than you're supposed to everytime

  8. ive never heard that before, i doubt its true and if it is, the risk is probably extremely low. aspirin has a similar mechanism of action and recent research has suggested it actually reduces the risk of cancer because of its antiinflammatory effects
