Question:

Can Allah really be God?

The name may be the same but the meaning has to be considered. The allah of the quran decrees that all non muslims must be killed or embrace islam by force (Quran 2/191/2)

So how can Allah who is so cruel be really a god?

  1. You're obviously a non-Muslim who has the wrong idea about Islam. There's no use explaining to you, unless you decide to open up your mind and heart.

  2. Allah is God!~

  3. YAWN..... somebody needs education.

  4. can jesus really be god

what kind of god died in cross

  5. Bismillāhir-Raúmānir-Raúeem = "In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Compassionate".

Basic Rules Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) taught to Muslims: ALWAYS EVALUATE & INTERPRET SURAAH & HADITH WITH REFERENCE TO CONTEXT (Background) OF ITS REVELATION.

Great article:How Do The Unwise Interpret The Qur'an?

    http://www.faithfreedom.com/essential_le...

Even when u read the verses of Holy Quran of WAR TIME u will find in the related verses about PEACE DEAL, OR MERCY IF THEY SURENDER etc. It is shame that NON-MUSLIMS even do not know this or they intentionally run from truth.

INTENTIONALLY MISINTERPRETED & by TAKING THEM OUT OF CONTEXT “VERSES OF THE HOLY QURAN” ABOUT TERROR by ANTI-ISLAMIST:

Anti-Islamist INTENTIONALLY quote HOLY QURAN verses of war time to LIE that see HOLY QURAN supports violence, but they INTENTIONALLY don’t read them in reference to their context, Holy Quran verses of war time will certainly ask Muslims to defend themselves and fight for their right, for their survival for their prestige, WHAT ANTI-ISLAMIST expect Allah to order in war time? To get killed, to put on bangles and not fight, to become cowards, to get raped?

Holy Quran 9:29 = so u fool, what do u expect from the victorious army for the prisoner of wars? This is not at all against GENEVA CONVENTION. U lost again.

    Does the Quraan Teach Violence?

    Why Anti-Islamist interprets without context for e.g.: An-Nisaa (2:89)

Surah 9 “Al-Tawbah” (repentance), the most famous verse on Jihad

    http://www.answering-christianity.com/wa...

For those who 9:5 in the Quran to claim that Islam is a violent religion.... did you try to read 9:6?

The context of the verse is during battlefield, In order to understand the context, we need to read from verse 1 of this surah. It says that there was a peace treaty between the Muslims and the Mushriqs (pagans) of Makkah. This treaty was violated by the Mushriqs of Makkah. A period of four months was given to the Mushriqs of Makkah to make amends. Otherwise war would be declared against them.

Holy Quran Surah Taubah 9: 6 gives the answer to the allegation that Islam promotes violence, brutality and bloodshed. It says:

"If one amongst the Pagans ask thee for asylum, grant it to him, so that he may hear the word of Allah; and then escort him to where he can be secure that is because they are men without knowledge."

    [Al-Qur'an 9:6]

Anti-Islamist just quote it without knowing the verse before it or the verse after it, without knowing its interpretation and what it refers to.

INTENTIONALLY MISINTERPRETED or OUT OF CONTEXT “HADITHS” OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD (pbuh) ABOUT TERROR by ANTI-ISLAMIST:

  6. Islamophobia in this question.

  7. The Christians worship a God who sends people to eternal torment for insufficient groveling, which seems a lot worse than mere death.  Do you question the validity of the Christian God as well?

  8. It's sad how some people are ignorant on Islam

  9. The verse may or may not be correctly understood. But that is not the problem with Islam , The biggest problem is Muslims keep changing the meaning of the verse or any verse as and when it suits them.

  10. One day Abu Hanifa was teaching at the college. Bohlool was sitting in a corner, listening to Abu Hanifa's lesson. In the middle of his lesson, Abu Hanifa said that, "Imam Jafar Sadiq says three things that I don't agree with. These are: Firstly, he says Shaitan will be punished in the h**l-fire. Since Shaitan is made of fire, then how is it possible that fire can hurt him? One kind of thing can't get hurt from the same kind of thing. Secondly, he says that we can't see Allah; but something that is present must also be able to be seen. Therefore, Allah can be seen by our eyes. Thirdly, he says that whoever does something is himself responsible for it; and will be questioned about it because he did it himself; but evidence is against this. Meaning, whatever a person does is done by Allah and the person has no control over what he does."

As soon as Abu Hanifa said this, Bohlool picked up a clod of earth and threw it at him. It hit his forehead and gave him severe pain. Then Bohlool ran away. Abu Hanifa's students ran after Bohlool and caught him. Since Bohlool was related to the Khalifa, they took him to the Khalifa and narrated the whole incident.

Bohlool said, "Call Abu Hanifa so that I can give him my answer."

Abu Hanifa was called and Bohlool said to him, "What wrong have I done to you?"

"You hit my forehead with a clod of earth. My forehead and head are in severe pain."

"Can you show me your pain?"

    "Can pain be seen?"

Bohlool replied, "You yourself say that every present thing can be seen and you criticize Imam Jafar Sadiq by saying how is it possible that Allah is present, but invisible. Secondly, you wrongly claim that the clod of earth pains your head; because the clod of earth is made of mud and you were also created from mud. Then how can one kind of thing hurt the same type of substance? Thirdly, you yourself said that all acts are done by Allah. Then how can you say that I am guilty, present me to the Khalifa, complain about me, and demand punishment for me!"

Abu Hanifa listened to Bohlool's intelligent answers and shamefully left Haroun's court.

  12. No.  You will never see a Muslim refer to God as Our Father, but Judaism and Christianity both teach that we are children of God.  Judaism and Christianity both know the Holy Spirit is God, but Muslims don't know that.  God (of the Bible) has female prophets, but allah does not.  The violence that God allowed in the Bible was to protect His chosen people, the Jews.  Most of the violence in the quran is AGAINST the Jews.  allah is really different.

  13. No Allah doesn't order muslims to kill non muslims. There is no compulsion in religion. however if a non muslims fights u in a battlefield, then teach them a lesson that they remember through their histories. The best example of that is Imam Ali (as). When he would land on the battle, the enemy would tremble and at the same loved him for his generosity

  14. It was just his ego and they believe that ego with a name. What I cannot understand is why are the Ishmaelites/ muslims taking the Prophets of the descendants of Issac and putting their "prophet" in line with the Prophets of Issac's descendants? They do not have any other prophets except for the one that claimed to be and they believe? Below is an article where by you can totally differentiate:

The first question is this: Does God know me?

Allah. The Koran teaches that Allah is the transcendent creator, all-powerful and all-knowing. He knows who you are; in fact, he has fatalistically determined your thoughts, words and deeds - good and evil - and even your eternal destiny, which is why Muslims so often say, “If Allah wills it.” So, Allah does indeed know you.

But Allah is not truly personal, knowable, or approachable. The Koran depicts him more judgmental than gracious. He exists as a singular unity who has no “partners.” In fact, to call Jesus the Son of God is to commit the unpardonable sin, or shirk. Of the 99 names for God in the Koran, Father is not one of them. In Islam, it is considered blasphemous to “presume” that one can know God or claim any sort of close, personal fellowship with Allah. He reveals his will, not himself.

Yahweh, the God of the Bible, also is depicted as is the transcendent Creator. He is all-knowing, all-powerful, and everywhere present. He knows us; but more than that, He is knowable and approachable to us. He created us in His image - with personality, thought, and will - for the purpose of enjoying an everlasting, unbreakable, intimate relationship with Him. He exists as a Trinity in eternal relationship as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In fact, God is so knowable, He came in the flesh as Jesus of Nazareth.

    * Jer. 24:7 — I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the Lord. They will be My people, and I will be their God because they will return to Me with all their heart.

    * Jer. 31:34 — No longer will one teach his neighbor or his brother, saying: Know the Lord, for they will all know Me, from the least to the greatest of them”-the Lord’s declaration. “For I will forgive their wrongdoing and never again remember their sin.”

    * John 7:28-9 — As He was teaching in the temple complex, Jesus cried out, “You know Me and you know where I am from. Yet I have not come on My own, but the One who sent Me is true. You don’t know Him; I know Him because I am from Him, and He sent Me.”

    * Heb. 8:11 — And each person will not teach his fellow citizen, and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know Me, from the least to the greatest of them.

    * John 1:1-3, 14 – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were created through Him, and apart from Him not one thing was created that has been created….The Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We observed His glory, the glory as the One and Only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

    * John 8:19 — Then they asked Him, “Where is Your Father?” “You know neither Me nor My Father,” Jesus answered. “If you knew Me, you would also know My Father.”

    * John 17:3 — This is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and the One You have sent-Jesus Christ.

    * Abraham was called “the friend of God.”

Does God know me? Allah and Yahweh are depicted as supreme beings who know everything and everyone. But … only the God of the Bible is truly personal and knowable.

The second question we can ask to know the difference between Allah and Yahweh is: Does God love me?

Allah. The Koran teaches that Allah loves those he chooses to love and hates those he chooses to hate. “Allah loves not those that do wrong,” says the Koran (Surah 3:140), neither does he love “him who is treacherous, sinful” (Surah 4:107). “Those who reject faith and do wrong - Allah will not forgive them nor guide them to any way - Except the way of h**l, to dwell therein for ever. And this to Allah is easy (4:168-169). See also 5:49 and 40:10. Other types of people Allah hates:

    * Transgressors (2:190).

    * Ungrateful and wicked creatures (2:276).

    * Those who reject faith (3:32; 30:45).

    * Those who do wrong (3:57, 140; 42:40).

    * The arrogant, the vainglorious (4:36; 16:23; 31:18; 57:23).

    * Those given to excess (5:87).

    * Wasters (6:141; 7:31).

    * Treacherous (8:58).

    * Ungrateful (22:38).

Yahweh, the God of the Bible, on the other hand, loves all people (John 3:16). He demonstrated, or proved, His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Rom. 5:8). John wrote, “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sin” (1 John 4:10). Even though God hates sin, He loves the sinner and takes no pleasure in punishing him (Eze. 18:23).

Does God love me? Only the God of the Bible loves all people.

The third question we can ask to know the difference between Allah and Yahweh is: Did God die for me?

The Koran teaches that Allahdid not, would not, and will not die for you, nor would he send anyone to die for you. In fact, the Koran teaches that Jesus did not die on the cross, but was taken up into heaven, and Judas was crucified in His place. Further, the Koran teaches that there is no need for God to provide a sacrifice for sin because ignorance of Islam, not sin, is man’s problem. (The possible exceptions are apostasy from Islam and refusal to convert to Islam.) Staying away from major sins (whatever those are) will automatically result in one’s “small” sins being overlooked by Allah (4:31).

Yahweh, the God of the Bible, on the other hand, loves us so much He sent His Son to die for us. This was determined in eternity past, before you and I were ever born and before any of mankind had fallen into sin; Jesus is declared to be the Lamb of God slain from the foundation of the world (Rev. 13:8). Jesus, who knew no sin, became sin for us (2 Cor. 5:21). But even more than dying for us, God the Son rose from the dead, conquering sin and death, and He offers us forgiveness of sins and eternal life by His grace through faith in Him.

Did God die for us? Only the God of the Bible sent His Son to die for us, securing eternal life for those who trust in Him.

So, are Allah and Yahweh just two different names for the same God, as President Bush suggested in his television interview? Absolutely not:

    * Allah is distant and unknowable. The God of the Bible is close and personal.

    * Allah does not love every person; Yahweh does.

    * Allah did not, would not, and will not die for you, nor would he ever send anyone to do so. But the God of the Bible loves you so much He sent His one and only Son to die for you. And He stands ready to grant you everlasting life if you will receive Him by faith.

  15. Surah Al-Baqarah 2, Ayah 191-192.

And slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have Turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, slay them. Such is the reward of those who suppress faith.

    192 فَإِنِ انْتَهَوْا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ

But if they cease, Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

I have copied and pasted the true meanings of the two Ayahs you have questioned about. It is translated by the world known scholar

Abdullah Yusuf Ali. This translation is read all over the English speaking countries.

    Read it carefully.

Allah revealed these Two Ayahs when He commanded Prophet to go to liberate Mecca from the control of Infidels in the 22nd year of his Prophet hood.  Meccans had forced Prophet and his followers to leave their homes and flee to Madina. So Allah is instructing them to slay them if they come to fight you and throw them out of their homes   like they threw you all out of your homes.

"for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there;"

Read above two lines.  Allah is reminding Muslims what Meccans did with you was worst than slaying. But also prohibits them not to kill or oppress if they do not fight. Also says if they start fight first in Sacred Mosque,  then you can kill them in Mosque also. But warns Muslims if they don't fight then you do not fight either. Allah is oft-forging Most Merciful.

End result was that when Prophet went to Mecca with 10,000 men fully armed, not a single Meccan came out to fight Muslims. Prophet made an announcement of general amnesty and said, you all are forgiven for your past persecution of Muslims. He sat on horse with his head down in humbleness and did not show any pride or arrognace like most conquerers did in history of every country.  He went straight to Kaaba and  cleaned the Kaaba by throwing out and destroying all idols Meccans had collected inside Kaaba for infidels of Arabia to come and worship the idols instead of worship one God  for which Abraham established Kaaba a sacred  place of worship for the religion of Monotheism - the worship of one and only God there is  who created entire universe and every thing between skies and earth.

Prophet and his army stayed in Mecca a weak or two, and then went back to Madina without any fight.  Thse ayahs are only for those Meccans who had persecuted Muslims for first 13 years and waged three wars on Muslims.  These Ayahs are not to kill any non-Muslims where ever Muslim find as you accuse.  If that was true then  why Muslims ruled Spain but did not kill all Spaniard.  They ruled India 1000 years but why didn't kill all Hindus.  It is also a lie that Muslims forced people to convert as Muslims. Allah clearly prohibits Muslims from forcing any one for conversion. Read the history of Arabs written by famour British Author Toynbee.  He explain in detail how Muslims establish Just governments in all the countries they conqured and libeated people from the tyranny of kings.  Today Muslims do not carry any swords, why Christians in Europe and USA are converting as Muslims every day.  No Muslim army went to Malaysia and Indonesia. Muslim merchants went there and preached Islam. Indonesia is the largest Muslim country.

  16. "He who believes in God and the Last Day should honour his guest, should not harm his neighbour, should speak good or keep quiet." (Bukhari, Muslim)

"Whoever hurts a Non-Muslim citizen of a Muslim state hurts me, and he who hurts me annoys God." (Bukhari)

"He who hurts a Non-Muslim citizen of a Muslim state, I am his adversary, and I shall be his adversary on the Day of a Judgement." (Bukhari)

"Beware on the Day of Judgement; I shall mysefl be complainant against him who wrongs a Non-Muslim citizen of a Muslim state or lays on him a responsibility greater than he can bear or deprives him of anything that belongs to him." (Al-Mawardi)

"Anyone who kills a Non-Muslim who had become our ally will not smell the fragrance of Paradise." (Bukhari)

    shut up....just shutup.......shhhhh...shhh....shut it

the arabic bible.....what do you think it says instead of god?.....(ALLAH)    ......omg

and you think islam is spread by force??

16:82 But if they turn away from you, (O Prophet remember that) your only duty is a clear delivery of the Message (entrusted to you).

6:107 Yet if God had so willed, they would not have ascribed Divinity to aught besides him; hence, We have not made you their keeper, nor are you (of your own choice) a guardian over them.

4:79, 80 (Say to everyone of them,) 'Whatever good betides you is from God and whatever evil betides you is from your own self and that We have (O Prophet) sent you to mankind only as a messenger and all sufficing is God as witness. Whoso obeys the Messenger, he indeed obeys God. And for those who turn away, We have not sent you as a keeper."

11:28 (Noah to his people) He (Noah) said "O my people! think over it! If 1 act upon a clear direction from my Lord who has bestowed on me from Himself the Merciful talent of seeing the right way, a way which you cannot see for yourself, does it follow that we can force you to take the right path when you definitely decline to take it?°

17:53, 54 And tell my servants that they should speak in a most kindly manner (unto those who do not share their beliefs). Verily, Satan is always ready to stir up discord between men; for verily; Satan is mans foe .... Hence, We have not sent you (Unto men O Prophet) with power to determine their Faith.

21:107 to 109 (O Prophet?) 'We have not sent you except to be a mercy to all mankind:" Declare, "Verily, what is revealed to me is this, your God is the only One God, so is it not up to you to bow down to Him?' But if they turn away then say, "I have delivered the Truth in a manner clear to one and all, and I know not whether the promised hour (of Judgment) is near or far."

22:67 To every people have We appointed ceremonial rites (of prayer) which they observe; therefore, let them not wrangle over this matter with you, but bid them to turn to your Lord (since that is the main objective of religion). You indeed are rightly guided. But if they still dispute you in this matter, (then say,) `God best knows (the value of) what you do."

88:21, 22; also see 24:54 And so, (O Prophet!) exhort them your task is only to exhort; you cannot compel them to believe.

48:28 He it is Who has sent forth His Messenger with the (task of spreading) Guidance and the Religion of Truth, to the end that tie make it prevail over every (false) religion, and none can bear witness to the Truth as God does.

36:16, 17 (Three Messengers to their people)Said (the Messengers), "Our Sustainer knows that we have indeed been sent unto you, but we are not bound to more than clearly deliver the Message entrusted to us.'

these verses say other wise....and those are just some of the verses.....

  17. Salaam brother.

Allah means God in Arabic. Allah is not the name of A god, it just means God. The Holy Qur'an is made up of 6,666 verses. About 97% of these verses focus on the building of the spiritual body, stories of past prophets, deep thought about the world around you, and your purpose in life. The verse you are referring to is one simple verse on jihad. In islam it is absolutely forbidden to START a war. It is absolutely forbidden to kill without just purpose. We are not to look down on anyone or harm anyone who has not been given the same blessing or guidance we have been given. We turn to Allah and give thanks when we come across these people, we try to set good examples, we don't kill them, that concept is not Islamic in any way.

Hope that cleared things up a little.

May Allah send you His Mercy and Guidance brother.

  18. Read in context. Read verse 190. Its actually mentioning to fight those that fight you in the cause of Allah....but do not trangress limits.

You should read the Tafsir, then you will know what it really means.

that ayat suits very well for that time, when the non believers were actually the one's causing distress/havoc on Muhammad Sallahu alaihi wasallam. Its talking about a specific account. also if it is those that are attacking the muslims because they are against the message of Islam, then obviously they would be referred to as the "non-muslims".

The Qur'an is the true word of ALLAH.

Although the BIBLE was once the old Islamic scripture (aka INJEEL), it is now no longer in its original form and has been changed and written by men. we do not know for sure how the original Bible is.The Bible today is not the word of GOD. THERE ARE SO MANY MISTAKES. and im not just saying this without reading it. There are too many contradictions and mistakes that surely should not be in a book  claimed by God. But the very first Original Bible, Spoken by Jesus alai sallam was the words of God, (Allah). The word Allah is also in the Bible if people bothered to research carefully, and along with many other islamic facts, such as the prophesising of Prophet Muhammad Sallahi alaihi wasallam.

  19. Many differences the true God of Abraham does not weigh sin all sin is bad and no man can make up for even the smallest of sin.

God told Adam that to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil meant death.

The first lie of Satan was that you will not surely die.

Allah disagrees with God's righteousness and agrees with the serpent sin does not equal death.

Allah also disagrees with God as to how to know a prophet of God.

From the time of Moses prophets were proved by God and by his word and by being in agreement with the previous prophets of God.

A prophet could not disagree with the previous prophets and the word of God and be a prophet of God.

We are all instructed ot test a prophet or a spirit by the word of God. Muhammad did not test the spirit he spoke with.

A prophet could not bear witness of himself  tell you his book was from God and his book tell you he was a prophet.

Muhammad at least understood this rule  he claimed the word of God was good and announced him as a prophet, yet it doesn't agree with his book or his teachings so Muslims have to disagree with the Qu'ran and say the word of God corrupted not understanding with a corrupt word you could not have a prophet of God unless announced verbally by God.

Deut.13: 1 If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,

    2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;

3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

A prophet of God must be in agreement with the words of the prophets and the known word of God.

1John 2: 22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: [but] he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

1John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

Anyone who claims to be a prophet of God must agree Jesus is the Christ the Son of God who is our savior.

2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist

Gal. 1: 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

If an angel or a man preach a different gospel he is not of God.

If these scriptures are corrupt Muhammad could not be a prophet of God. He could not be anounced.

If these scriptures are accurate Muhammad could not be a prophet of God. He was not in agreement.

  20. ALLAH is ARABIC for GOD!

It is clear that you HAVENT read the Quran.

FYI, do you know why Indonesia is the largest Islamic nation?

because one of the Prophets companions went there and recited a few verses from the Quran. The verses had such an impact that many converted. and soon populaton increased. A sword as never touched a single person!

  21. according to you approach, God of OT and NT also should be different. We do not define God based on orders given in the holy book.

Allah is Lord of Jesus and Moses.

  22. Your point is well taken.

Even a cursory study of the Bible  and the Qur'an will show the discrepancies. Allah may be a god in Islam, but he cannot be the God spoken of in the Bible.

  23. You should try researching before you post a question like this. Seriously.

Allah is the Arabic word for God. We believe in one God. That is the only God. There's nothing else to it.

Why do we use the word in Arabic if we know what it means and how to say it in english? Well, Arabic is like the Holy language of the religion. The Qu'ran is written in Arabic.

  24. The name Allah SWT is his name he rewards us the highest reward when we use it.

The rest of the names are his also. Many languages and translations and meanings.

The Lord never overburdens you, you only do that to yourselves.

  25. I don't think this question can be answered.  The Christian god has purportedly done horrific things as well.  I may have been originally raised Christian (First Southern Baptist), but my opinion/belief has changed over time.  So, for what it's worth, her are a few of my opinions, what use of them you make is on your own head.

    1) There is no one true way.  (Stolen from Mercedes Lackey.)  There is no one faith that can truthfully claim to be the only true faith and that everyone else is wrong.  Anyone who does so, and attempts to force their beliefs on you is almost certainly breaking some part of their own faith to do so.  At best, they're deluded.  At worst, they're hypocrites.

    2) So long as the faith you follow advocates doing good, and resisting evil, I don't care if you have one god, a pantheon, or a plethora of spirits.

So, to me, a moderate Islamic, a Buddhist, a Shinto, etc are all equally acceptable.  By the same measure, an extremist of any religion/faith is probably not acceptable.

The extremist 'Christians' we get here in the states are just about as frightening as an extremist Islamic.  The only difference is that most extremist 'Christians' won't go out of their way to blow themselves up just to take you with them.
